Erol Alkan is the Philospher’s Stone

I Don’t Feel Like Dancing (Erol Alkan Carnival of Light Re-Work) - Scissor Sisters (mp3)

It’s scientifically proven that anything Erol Alkan touches turns to gold. Not only is he one of the best DJs in the world (Bugged Out!, Trash), he also is one heck of a producer that wins him a place next to DFA in the pantheon of Fucking Ridiculous Remixers. His latest conquest is Scissor Sisters’ new single, I Don’t Feel Like Dancing off their new album Tah-Da. Some people have been complaining that the Sisters new album is too Bee Gees Disco. Fear not cus the Scissor Sisters have one Ace up their sleeve. The best remixes are the ones that take a single element of the original–no matter how good or bad the song is–and craft a whole new song with that one element as a foundation. I guess my english teacher was right; the best results comes from writing a whole paper and taking the final idea and crafting a whole new paper base on that single idea. It’s worked before. The DFA used this method for their remix of Soulwax’s Another Excuse which resulted in what I consider the best Dance Song and Remix in this past decade. Erol Alkan literally takes one synth swell buried in the chorus of the the Sister’s song and makes a subtle electro/microhouse masterpiece.
