And Don’t You Dare Forget to buy tickets for the Soulwax Party.

Here’s an example of how everyone should be reacting to this Party.

YESSSSSSSSSSSSSS NYC!!! INSANE PARTY ALERT!!!
I have never been so excited for someone to play FIXED as I am about finally having Soulwax Nite Versions here, in NYC, for the very first time!!! Nite Versions is the band of the best DJs in the world, rad doods and super bros: Dave and Steph Dewaele of 2manydjs. Soulwax are making the freshest, most original, innovative and incredible music of any band at the moment!!! They are the men behind FIXED and worldwide dance floor classics E-Talking and NY Excuse, along with countless other original tracks and remixes that you know, love and freakout to.

For the past 2 years Nite Versions have been illuminating the lives of people all around the world at every major festival on the planet. This September, Nite Versions have decided to come to America for the first time. On Thursday September 21st they will be here in New York. Last fall JDH and I had the opportunity to DJ on the Radio Soulwax tour in the UK for a few days. While playing with them I saw them play live for the first time….and New York…it was honestly the most amazing live performance I had ever seen in my entire life…now only second to Daft Punk playing live at Coachella this past Spring.

On Thursday September 21st, Nite Versions will make Thursday the new Friday!!! New York…don’t sleep, don’t work, don’t go out this weekend…basically, do whatever you have to do to be at Studio B onThursday September 21st, 2006 to experience Soulwax Nite Versions live!!! This night could possibly change your life!!! - Dave P

Charlotte Gainsbourg really Awesome

AF607105 - Charlottes Gainsbourg (mp3)

The Songs that We Sing - Charlotte Gainsbourg (mp3)

Charlotte Gainsbourg’s mobile must be brimming full of the mover and shakers of hip these days. Not only is she in Michel Gondry’s new film, The Science of Sleep, but also has a new album 5:55 featuring (you guys better sit down for this) song writing by analog French Genius of Air, lyrics by Jarvis Cocker, and production by Radiohead Guru, Nigel Godrich. How can this album not be good?! Charlotte’s vocals are a beautiful amalgamation of her parents. She has the cocksure delivery of her father Serge Gainsbourg (the winner of the lecherous man of all time) and the breathy sexiness of her mother, Jane Birkin. It’s basically a good Air album with classic Jarvis Cocker lyrics, fantastic production from Nigel, and a very charming chanteuse.

Fashion Week Extravaganza

Tuesday, September 5th, 2006

Fall is the most exciting time in NYC. Everyone is donning those Members-Only at the coming of milder weather and wiping their brows in relief of never having to wait in the sauna-like subway platforms ever again–until next summer that is. Besides better weather, Fall also brings in the onslaught of both Fashion Week and the CMJ Festival, full of open bars, extravagant parties, and lots of great music and high fashion. All the Fashionistas around the world will set there eyes on NYC for this next week. Below is your ticket to ride through some of the many crazy events happening in the Fashion Industry as they invade NYC. Check back regularly for more RSVPs and invites.

Herbert Brings the Big Band

The Movers and The Shakers - Herbert (mp3)

Every single sound seems to be in its right place on Herbert’s new album Scale. This is not too surprising coming from a musician who records his drummers underwater just to get a certain sound. One might believe that Herbert’s thoroughness and high attention to minutae would create an album for study instead of Joy. Listening to The Movers and The Shakers dispells any worries of lopsidedness because not only do we get the chin-stroking pleasures of whirls and beeps from Herbert’s electronica past but also well place trumpet squels and swells and a solid groove and catchy vocal melody from Herbert and his current muse/collaborator, Dani Siciliano. The track is so catchy that you almost forget that their talking about throwing down Bush.

We’re in Love - Herbert (mp3)

As for this track, it literally sounds like a stage production for Roman Holiday. You know, lazy joyride on the Vespa through the beautiful streets of 1950s Rome with Audrey Hepburn hugging you from behind.
