In a land where its denizens go through periods of 24 hour darkness, the Swedish Electronica group, Air France does a magical job at channeling music that warms the soul as much as the sun glaring through the photo above. It’s truly exciting to stumble across a band capturing a sound so wonderful that you wish you thought about doing it in the first place. The Avalanches, Postal Service, and Samba meld into beautiful settings of cerulean blue beach waters and laughter filled summer nights.
March is always a month filled to the brim with great music. With SXSW in Austin and Winter Music Conference down in Miami, the US turns itself into a gigantic magnet that draws to its shores the european dance acts that we rarely get to see. Along with the music festivals, the artist will also take every opportunity to hit up the entire party circuit in the states. So below you will find the crème de la crème of parties for this month.
Although not in the month of March, everyone should by tickets for this fast:
Welcome to the new BohemianPlayboy site redesigned by one Gordon Cieplak. Just in time to celebrate our new look is this month’s Electro Fix featuring Kavinsky.
Cheers to Ed Banger head honcho, Pedro Winter, for always suggesting his bands take a ludicrious persona and run with it. Daft Punk took the form of Robots to make machine dance music with a human heart, Justice co-opted heavy metal imagery to emphasize their dirty riffs, and now Kavinsky beats them all. The whole premise of Kavinsky revolves around him crashing a very rare Ferrari, and then coming back to life as a Zombie and cruising the nights with the sickiest 80s driving soundtrack known to man since Axel F.
Kavinsky - Wayfarer (mp3)
Giorgio Moroder shed a tear when Kavinsky finished this track. Delicious sweet synth swells, accompany one of the sickest arpegio bass lines since Diane Summer’s “I Feel Love.”
Kavinsky - Dead Cruiser (mp3)
Kavinsky’s emulation of the 80s sounds even more 80s than the real thing. The first time I listen to this track my jaw dropped in disbelief of the ridiculousness he was getting out of his synths. Listening to all this makes me wanna cruise around Paris:
