I’m making my annual pilgrimage to Coachella this week. It will be hard to top Daft Punk’s performance last year but they have a great line up as always to try jump that massive hurdle. If you’re heading out there as well here are some nice peripheral parties to take a break from 12 straight hours of music.

My week of Klaxons started with their DJ set at Hiro last Thursday. Guns N Bombs were opening along with Stevie Aoki Man. Backstage, I ran into Johnny Love from Guns N Bombs; However it wasn’t the first encounter with him. We’ve met each other before on the battlefields of K-Dice. Ha. Here’s us nerding out.
Johnny Love and I then met Steffan from the Klaxons. We had a great conversation about the non-existent “neu rave” phenomenon and he confirmed that it was just small joke that blew out of proportion. One day they mentioned it wanking off in an interview, the next day all the kids in the front of their show were wearing glowsticks. Also, Steffan looks like he just stepped out of a Flock of Seagulls video.
Harley was downstairs taking photos for Mr Cobrasnake.
At the Klaxons gig at Studio B, I ran into Danny Gold and Zach who just bum rushed the Klaxon’s stage and got kicked off in a record 13 seconds.

Meanwhile, Lily Allen was in the ready room. Apparently she canceled her entire tour just so she can catch the Klaxons at Studio B.
Soulwax was back there as well. Be sure not to miss them Tuesday night at Hiro!

Friday is going to be a tough call cause I’ve been meaning to catch the Disco perfection of Escort for a good while but then again Bonde De Role, Klaxons, and Surkin will be causing serious ridiculousness at Studio B. If you haven’t heard of Escort though, you should take a peak below.

FIXED Parties at Tribeca Grand Hotel was the first party to open my eyes to the excitement of being in NYC. They booked LCD Soundsystem, Bloc Party, Erol Alkans, Vitalic before anyone knew who they were. It’s good to see these guys back in the original environment. And very psyched for their new mix album: Go Commando.
