My first DJ gig as Shinratek was an amazing experience. I saw many of you there and I wanna thank you for coming out and making it ridiculously fun. I’m super excited to say that the success at the DJ gig last Tuesday at HUGS was a catalyst for a stream of better events to come. The promoter of Hugs was so excited that she gave me a residency every Tuesday night. So with this residency I wanna start bring in all my friends that are involved in DJing, Art, Performance, and Music scene. So I would like to present to you our first special guest for Tuesdays at HUGS:

D. is one of the most classic neighbors ever and KUDU has been blowing up in the NYC scene as well as flying all over the world for gigs–Finland being the last one. They headline HUGE parties in the past i.e. MOTHERFUCKER, WARM UP PS1, CHEEKY BASTARDS but now I have D. spinning his favorite tunes at our small intimate little dance party this Tuesday.

So it’s been awhile since the last Music posting. The reason behind the lapse is that instead of blogging about music I’ve been making music. I recently made a song for a remix competition for Kitsune (the French Label home to bands like Digitalism and Guns N Bombs). The original is called Drugs in My Body by Thieves Like Us. I basically put it into a more electro context with my remix.

Other good news is that this remix landed me a gig a new bar in Bedford Ave, Williamsburg. The sound system is pretty solid and they have skeeball, guitar hero, and a dance floor. This coming Tuesday I will premiere the extended version of my remix. Since it’s my first time DJing officially I will be a bit nervous. Nothing will make more more happy than to see all of you come out and rock out. If enough people show up then maybe I can get a steady gig at this place. I spent all weekend doing re-edits for AC/DC, NIN, Beastie Boys,and GnR songs that I dug out of my roommates High School CD Collection; so expect a 2ManyDJs kinda set with alotta Electro, French Touch, and Space Disco mixed in as well.
